Brief Life Story

Martin was born in the coastal town of Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland.

In 1976 his father was presented with a wonderful opportunity to join a group of engineers from ICI to develop and build a polymer plant in Cape Town South Africa.

Martin was 18 months old when his folks left for the sunny shores of South Africa. His time in Cape Town was only supposed to be temporary until the polymer plant was constructed, but when his father was asked to remain and run the plant the temporary stay turned into one more permanent.

Martin progressed with his primary and secondary schooling. Once he matriculated he decided to join the Navy and complete his 12 month national service duty. It was something that he enjoyed to a degree, but knew that a life of taking orders and living by someone else’s rules was not for him. The days in the Navy helped discipline and mould him into the character he is today.

During this period Martin had time to think more clearly on what he wanted to do. It was his interest in buildings and construction that led him to en role in the Quantity Surveying course at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. He didn't realise at the time that the path chosen would be instrumental in building the foundations for a future in the property investment world.

He spent a number of years working between construction firms and professional quantity surveying practices. He went on to complete a BTECH Degree in Quantity Surveying. It was the end of an amazing chapter in his life, but the best was still to come.

Once qualified, he decided to head overseas to see what the world outside of South Africa had to offer. He transferred from the Cape Town office of a very well know QS practice and found himself in London in the United Kingdom. Martin arrived in London in 1999 and has worked on some amazing projects all over the United Kingdom.

His ultimate passion is property investment and working with others to build exciting businesses.

Over the years Martin realised that the best way to learn is to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in - take action and learn as you go along. There is one rule that he lives by and that is to never make the same mistake twice. This little rule has served him well over the years.
